Tauranga Society of Artists

The Tauranga Society of Artists (TSA) is one of the region’s most established visual arts communities, offering a rich programme of opportunities for painters, drawers, and mixed-media artists. With a membership numbering in the hundreds and a history stretching back decades, TSA provides a creative hub where both emerging and experienced artists can connect, learn, and grow their practice.

Members have access to regular open studio sessions, life drawing classes, portraiture groups, workshops on specific mediums (such as watercolour, pastels, oil painting, and Chinese brushwork), social days, tutorials, critiques, and exhibitions. The Society’s art rooms in Elizabeth Street are equipped with easels, large workspaces, a library of art resources, and a supportive environment that encourages exploration and skill development.

TSA also runs competitive exhibitions and social events that help build confidence and visibility for local artists, from casual painters to committed practitioners.

New members are always welcome, and prospective members can usually attend a session before joining officially to get a feel for the community. Whether you’re looking to deepen technical skill, exhibit your work, or simply enjoy painting and drawing with others, TSA offers a strong local foundation for creative engagement.
